Feat UK – 2012 Fan Dance Event
On Saturday 10th March will be organising a walk up Pen – Y – Fan in the Brecon Beacons, a walk I know some of you are already familiar with!
The now infamous “Fan Dance” is a 24 Km training route used to push aspiring special forces soldiers to their limits during the navigation phase of SAS selection course. However fear not as you will have the distinct advantage of not having to carrying 55 Lbs and a riffle!
For those of you that fancy an extra challenge – You can carry 10kgs in your day sack! A prize will be awarded for the person who starts and finishes the challenge with the most weight!
As with all our events the emphasis is to provide a safe and fun platform to go and explore the great outdoors. This event is not a not a race and you wont be under any specific time pressures to complete the event. It also serves as a gentle introduction to anyone looking to participate in the Feat UK National 3 Peak Challenge which will take place 01st- 03rd June 2012.
The Route – starts at the Storey Arms Mountain Rescue Centre. You then walk / run 12 Km summiting Pen Y Fan, Corndu and Crybin before reaching the Roman road and the half way point at the Tarpan Tau station. After a quick pit stop to refuel you simply turn around and do it all again in reverse. Aid stations and check points will be in place to monitor progress and safety throughout the challenge.
In order to minimise expense and inconvenience we will travel up and back on the same day. Transport will be provided in the form of a minibus.
The cost of the trip is only £65.00 – and includes transport to and from Wales from nominated local collection and drop off points, a quality T shirt, supplied by our 2012 event sponsors Under Armour and guidance and support throughout the event.
Please feel free to invite any Friends, Family or Colleagues that you think may like to join us.
Further details about the challenge including an e flyer will follow shortly. Please note that we are currently in the process of developing our new look website and we hope to have this up and running soon.
I would be grateful if you could let me know if you are able to join us for what promises to be a rewarding day out in the wilderness!
